Have been given a Sprite and am looking for any info on sails, rigging, drawing etc that would make this boat sailable next summer. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

One Picture To Look At

Follow the link to Mike McIntire's O'Day site to see a picture of the mast and jib of an owners' Sprite. It's not the best shot but does give a small clue to the rigging, which for this small O'Day should be fairly straight forward. If there is a sailing club anywhere near you, that teaches or races dinghy's I might talk to them to get some ideas on how to rig your sprite. Most sailboats of this size are fairly similar in their set-up and if you don't get it exactly to factory specs, you should still be able to hob-nail a rig together for next summer. Also find a sail loft nearby that you can speak to, as I find that these people really understand the needs for rigging success, and may have the sail dimension spec's for the Sprite on their books already. Good luck. Don

Sails

Believe it or not, you can still purchase sails and misc parts from the manufacturer at: O'Day Sailboat CO 14 Water Street, Assonet, MA 02702 (508) 644-3001 I just bought an old Sprite which also needed sails, the price was about $450 for the Main and Jib.
