On the brochure attached you will see the corner of the galley in the foreground. On my boat, these corner pieces appear to be plastic. They were covered with years of teak oil ,cooking oil, dirt, grime and maybe some varnish. I have no idea what they should look like or how they may have been finished. Gloss /matte?

Does anyone have these pieces in their original state ? Or any suggestions as to a good finish for them? replacement??

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

There are plastic (grey) on the 272 as well....on the corners of the various salon fiddle raisl, etc....It had to have been to save money....most of ours did not fit exceptionally well, though we still have them....Pat

I'm pretty sure they are metal on the 35 if I am interpreting your note correctly. Mine show some signs of corrosion. No idea where you could get a part like this? Probably have to custom make something.

Great input 25yearslater. I am positive these are aluminum on my boat but I think they coated them with varnish or whatever they used on the woodwork so there is some kind of finish that starts to flake off over time (after 25 years I guess you should expect some deterioration). The corner piece is exposed to water from the sink a lot so thus the corrosion problem with aluminum.

Thank you jibes. I knew I had seen something that might work. I also ran across the source of aluminum 1/4 round. Bosch Rexroth has aluminum shapes often used for machine guarding. Navigating their site is the biggest challenge but architectural aluminum components has the profiles that are very similar to what the brochure shows on Oday. Don't give up, it's a tough site to navigate.

So how should I finish them? I see some in other boats that appear to be painted black for the long corner piece and silver for the fiddle. It looks OK, anyone with a bitter idea? I thought about painting them a color closer to the wood but I think that will look like I'm trying to hide them.
What do we think of these? http://www.buckwoodcraft.com/teak_molding.htm#Teak Molding
