Due to a recent mishap, I'm needing a mast for my O'day DS II. Can I go with something of proper length \ diameter and modify where needed?

Possible to find a SIMILAR MAST, BUT CHECK THE Day Sailer Class Association web forum on their web site, www.daysailer.org don't need to be a member of the DSA to read or post, but there is a no-charge sign-up (safe, no solicitations will result).
Here are the specs on the Day Sailer Mast, the length shown is for full mast (stepped in cuddy) not the hinged version with hinge on top of cuddy. Deck-stepped mast will be about 24" shorter.

Found a dwyer mast from a marine salvage yard with the same profile but was a bit long. So cut it down, refit the hardware and it's all good. Thanks
