Do older O'Day's suffer old age water absorbsion as some old Sunfish's do?

Maybe, but I'd say only if they have been left full of water for a LONG time. Do you hear water sloshing around as you move boat? Does she feel heavier than she should? I'd place the boat in a slightly bow-high position on land and open the bilge drainplug located on the transom, if any water is in the bilge it should drain out. I would also open the inspection ports located at the forward end of the cockpit on all Day Sailer IIs, if there is water in the bilge, it will show up there. (I think the Javelin has same inspection ports?)

Tx Sunbird.. I have an old 1973 .. no inspection ports .. does anyone know if these can be safely added .. also is there a special drain plug for the smaller bilge drain hole?
