I am currently looking at moving up to a 40. I understand that they were built under license from Jenneau (being that it is a "Sun Fizz" model). Were they built in the US by O'day? Anyone have any information on their construction? Solid fiberglass hull or cored? Solid, glassed in stringers or structural grids? Anything else in particular to look for? Thanks

re:eek:day 40

hi john; i have owned a 40 for a year and a half. the boat did start its life as a jenneau in france, then was built by oday in the US as an oday 39 until l986, it underwent a very minor redesign by raymond hunt & associates, basically just adding a sugar scoop transom and a interior redesign and became the oday 40. the hull & deck are both fibreglass with balsa core construction. the boat is very substanially built, but as usual a very thorough survey would be a good idea before buying.
