o'day 40 strut free play

O'Day 40 strut free play.Any suggestions how to fix it?

Explain free play, strut moving side to side? or shaft moving with a lot of play inside the strut which would tell me that the cutlass bearing needs to be replaced

Strut moves side to side(no doubt).Bearing was replaced last summer.

My 32 has the strut mounted with 4 bolts that screw into nuts glassed into the hull, after trying to remove this strut once to remove shaft I had to drill out one bolt and reinstall with a longer bolt and the nut inside the bilge (I was lucky to have access to the area)
Is it possible that yours is just loose and just needs tightening or did you hit something with it.
I do know now that its critical how the strut is aligned with the shaft so I'll never remove mine again if I don't have to
