The connection from the rudderpost to the steering quadrant is loose. It appears that the 3/8" pin has elongated the hole in the rudderpost allowing about 3/32" rotational movement with the wheel locked. The cables are tight. Does anyone have a solution or drawings that would help? Thank you, John Ferguson

You could bush it

John - Don't have drawings for you but you could do what a friend did on his boat. Drill out the hole so that the elongated dimmension is now the diameter and then bush it so the same sized pin still works. Replace the pin, obviously. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

New Rudder

John, I had some delamination on my rudder which I fixed myself but I had a quote for a new one from Foss. It was about 1300.00 plus shipping, and of course labor to remove and install it. If you are pulling it out for this repair you might just consider replacing it. dave

Dave, Thank you for the thoughts. I hoped to not to replace the rudder as it was recently rebuilt by the previous owner. When you replced the rudder did you redrill pin hole in the steering mechanism? John

This is a reply to O'Day 35 Rudder Post Moveme

Justin- Thankyou for the reply. I am hoping to do the same but am looking for some specifics on how to do the drilling. John
