Whilst motoring for several hours, I noticed that the throttle would slowly slip. To maintain cruising speed i had to keep my hand on the throttle. While not a crisis, it sure was inconvenient.
Would the adjustment be on the Edson pedestal or via the linkages on the motor?

Usually it's inside the binnacle. www.edsonmarine.com if you have an Edson pedestal explains how to tighten the friction nut inside the pedestal. It's a little tricky and usually hard to get to, long box end wrench works well.

I just replaced my throttle cable. It had a u shaped metal clip with a set screw. It goes over the cable and I guess you tighten it until the throttle stays? I noticed when I fired up my engine the throttle also slipped slowly back, hopefully I will be putting the throttle break back on this week.

I replaced my throttle cable last year. The old one had a C clamp that had been attached to it between the engine and the bottom of the Edson pedestal. The C clamp had been tighted so much that it cracked the throttle case and the cable was rusting inside. I used this guide for the install:

www.edsonmarine.com/support/PDFs/installation/EB396EngineControlInstr.PDF

The guide describes how to adjust the throttle tension screw, but I found that the tensioner screw would quickly wear and loosen the cable. If you have the same problem, you might try this C clamp:

Thanks, I do remember seeing a clamp on a cable below near the engine. I'm thinking that's what the PO had used. Seems kinda of a kludge. Now I'm wondering if I loosened it when I repositioned the cables during a golf cart battery install.

Mine has a ubolt down by the engine, just on the cable and not connected to anything else. I gave a tiny twist on each nut and the creep went away. Found out later that the PO never installed the clamp in the pedestal since it was tough to get to. I don't see a reason to mess with it if it works.
