I am new to my 34 oday. Could someone please explain what the panel selection difference between-All 1 and off are. I use the all position when sailing and of course off turns he panel off but position 1 I think is my starting battery.

Congrats on the new boat. It sounds like your asking about your battery selection switch. The 1 position is powering from one battery. All would be all batteries and off is no power.

Isn't there also a 2 position? Best to only select one battery (or bank) to keep the other one in reserve to start the engine. Selecting All almost never makes sense.

If it is a 1-2-both-off switch, read this article, explains a lot as do the rest of the articles on the site. ;)

Fundamental to the value of having two batteries is that they both be good. Load testing each would not be a bad idea, replacing if marginal.
