They're both well made boats.
Folks who have them love them. Choose the cabin arrangement you like best.Centre cockpit boats are just as easy to dock as aft cockpit boats. The big difference between centre cockpit and aft cockpit is privacy in the aft cabin and a smaller salon/galley. Centre cockpit is also easier to have a good full enclosure over the cockpit.I helped some friends bring home their new (to them) O'day 37 from Sydney to Gabriola Island in January. It has a full enclosure. We sailed onto 25-30 knots the first day, 135 roller furling jib. No Main. It was rough but warm and dry in the enclosed cockpit. Great sail. Would have been miserable with just a dodger. If you have kids or plan to cruise with friends and you hope for romance when cruising, go for the aft cockpit. If it's just the two of you, or you don't find sailing romantic, aft cockpit and more room in the cabin may be the best choice.
