O'day 31 keel

A few months ago I purchased a 1984 O'day 31. I thought I was buying the regular 5'3" draft boat. When I hauled it out it turned out to be the 4' shoal draft version. This in itself would not be the end of the world but it looks like someone cut the keel to turn it into a shoal draft. The entire bottom of the keel is extremely rough. It looks like it was cut with an acetylene torch. I cant imagine it would leave the factory looking the way it does. Has anyone seen this before or know any way to find out which boat I purchased.

Thank!

The trailing edge of the deep keel is nearly vertical - it actually slopes forward (toward the bottom) somewhat.

The trailing edge of the shoal keel slopes aft (toward the bottom) at about 30 degrees from vertical.

This would be a good clue as to what you have.

Thanks TWL!

Going on my memory it does slope back. Thats a relief. Still wonder why it looks like swiss cheese down there.

probably roughed up during a minor (I hope) grounding on rocks or marina slip bracing, etc.
