I got a loos gauge, what do other 302 owners with roller furler set the shrouds and back stay too? It seem my windward shrouds Are very loose. Should the mast have a rake?

According to the O’Day 302 manual, no specific tension is provided for the stays other than “hand tight” followed by a test sail and taking the slack out of the leeward stays (port and starboard). Neither does the manual recommend much of a rake (3” at the gooseneck I think). The manual suggests these considerations are really only for the serious racer.
But I’m not happy with what seems like slop in my furler foil but haven’t yet found the tension I’m looking for.

I ended up setting my Back stays to 10 and shrouds at 20. Still seemed a bit loose in winds around 20 knots . Going to try 25 next season on shrouds and 15 for back stay.

Thanks. Can’t remember what I set mine at (mid teens overall I think) but I’ll keep your planned tensions in mind for next season. I found that mine were pretty soft this year. Cheers!
