Hello, I am interested in purchasing an Oday 30. I need to know about the quality and specs of this boat. This information has been very difficult to find. What types of keels are available, what is their Handicap rating? Is this boat ever club raced? Thanks for you help. Ronaldo Ragghianti and Family (captin@ghplus.infi.net)

O'Day 30

I own an O'Day 30 and have for the past four years. I have done extensive up-grading but started with a very sound boat. I know of very few areas where you should be concerned Naturaly you will have a survey on any boat you are considering buying). The February 15,1989,Practical Sailor had a review of the 30. I agree with the article in that the areas they said need improvenment realy did need improvement. They mentioned that the ice box does not stay cold and that is true. I live aboard. When I first went aboard we used the ice box and were buying ice every other day. The other major pointis the fact that the engine is noisy. It is a Yanmar diesel and man does it make noise. I plan this spring to insulate the engine room with leaded foam sold at West Marine. I would like to replace the cabin sole. It seems a little springie to the step. I have refinished the sole. I have improved the plumbing by adding an accumulator. It is a great boat for its size and purpose. Bob Baldwin abard the Agenda
