A couple years ago I saw an Oday 28 where the port settee had a slide-out extension to make a full size bed. Unfortunately I don't remember any of the construction, and didn't take any pics either. Does anyone out there have something similar?

the port settee has a peice of plywood that slides under cushions when not in use, when in use, simply slides out to rest with the foot of the plywood resting on the bottom step of the gangway, and the head resting on a small strip of teak that is attached to the port main bulkhead at the appropriate height. the outer edge of the plywood is trimmed anlong its length, and thus reinforced, with a 3/4 thick by approx 3 inches with piece of teak just like the starboard sette is trimmed.
you mite be able to make out a little of that with this picture. you can just make out the small piece of trim on the port bulkhead that the plywood slides out onto, it is at the very bottom just below the level of the cushion tops. and on the starboard settee, you can see the same type of trim that the lenght of the plywood is trimmed in. Hope this helps

Mine is slightly different. The aft end of the plywood rests on a foot that is hinged to the port setee and turns out for support. When not is use, it rotates back to sit flush against the side of the settee. This is not the best setup I have seen, but it works in converting the single settee into a fairly comfortable berth.

Thanks guys. That answers a couple questions I had. My settee isn't close enough to the companionway steps so I guess I'll be rigging that hinged foot.
