Still need to get a 272 mast or accurate measurements. If you have a 272 that is easily accessable( mast down ,uncovered) or you have trashed a 272 call me. I have a mast from a O'Day 27 but it is too big in all diminensions, plus the 272 uses a mast with aft swept spreaders and single lower shrouds and no Rudy does not have the measurements for this stick. Looking to measure boat in R.I. S.E. Ma., E.Ct.

I have an 1986 272. It does NOT have aft spreaders. There are single chain plates, Port and Starboard. My mast is already up. Check with the OEM manu. Z-Spar.

I think Z-Spar is out of business, but check with Rig Rite (www.RigRite.com) they have parts and I believe entire rigs in stock. They should have the dimensions and specs for the 272. I'm very surprised that Rudy doesn't have this on file...... but then he is definitely THE O'Day "guru", but can't know everything. We all (as owners of various O'DAY Sailboats) serve both as Rudy's customers and sometimes his best source of info.

BTW: Rig-Rite is in Warwick, RI
You could also check out Newport Nautical Supply, they are a marine consignment/surplus store and might have a 272 mast. Marine Consignment of Wickford (RI) is another possiblity. F.L. Tripp & Sons in Westport, MA was a big O'DAY Dealer and might know of a local 272 owner that could help you, ditto for Burr Brothers Boats in Marion, MA.

Yes, Sunbird is correct. z-spar is now marketing its products thru RigRite. The stuff that I ordered for my Z-Spar Mast, 4 years ago were shipped out of Florida.

272 mast length

I've got mine down and it measures 29' 10". It's 15' 3" from the bottom to the center of the spreader. The spreader itself is straight, but the mounts are at a slight angle aft.

Thanks, that info is very helpful. I have the original 272 factory manual. It has all the standing dimensions but not the actual spar dimension.

They are NOT out of business, they just don't do business in the USA anymore under that name. They have a subsidiary in florida called US-Spars that the use for North America now. They stock all the same parts, direct interchangability with the OEM Z-Spar rigs.

I ordered a new rigid vang and spinnaker pole from them a year or two ago. Easy to work with, good prices.
