With the engine running and the shaft turning it should drip one to two drips per minute. This is "just right." So SHUT OFF THE ENGINE then do the following:
loosen the locknut with a packing nut wrench, then tighten the stuffing box to compress the stuffing to slow the drip rate, then tighten the locknut back up. You need two wrenches, one for the locknut and one for the stuffing box. All of this only applies if you have a stuffing box. If you are using a PSS dripless seal with a carbon face seal it is not supposed to drip, the disk seals against the carbon and is spring loaded. If this is leaking you need help from someone other than me, you may have a scratch in the carbon or contamination on the disc of some kind. I've never had a PSS seal so am not qualified to offer advice.
