I have an Oday 27 I recently purchased and the rudderis very hard to turn. I had a couple of questions for you guys.
First, please confirm whether the shaft of the rudder is supposed to turn inside the bushing or the rudder and shaft turn together and the bushing turns in the rudder tube? Right now when the rudder is turned the entire bushing spins with it as if it's frozen to it.
I am assuming I have to remove the rudder and try and lubricate the bushings either on the shaft or in the tube? Please advise. Are there any ways to try and loosen it without removing the rudder? So far all I have done is remove the head and spray wd40 and try and work it back and forth. It appears to have a little bot nearly enough.
To remove the rudder, any tips would be appreciated or links to other threads. I understand block the rudder, remove the head and thenwhack with wood and hammer?
Thanks for any insight you guys could give me.
Howie
