I recently bought an oday 25, but im trying to buy a new mainsail and I was told by previous owner that the mast has 1/2 inch slugs ( I don't have access to boat at the moment) and when I look at the sail warehouse website, the sail with 1/2 inch slugs matches up with the 25 d

Welcome to Oday Owners and congrats on your 25!
www.sailboatdata.com list three O'day 25s. A 25 w/ centerboard, A 25 w/ fixed keel and A 25 w/ centerboard and tall mast. The first two have a luff measurement (edge where the slugs are and is against the mast) of 24.5'. The TM model has a luff of 26.5.
Not sure what they are referring to with the d.
Here is the link for the 25 w/ CB.

I took a look at the sail warehouse site. The 25 main sail dimensions match sailboat data .com for the standard 25 and fixed keel 25. The 25D luff and foot (P & E) dimensions do not match any of the three listed.

Strange.

Sailboatdata.com is a GREAT web-site, but far from perfect! He gets his data from various sources, but doesn't always verify how acurate said info is.
To the best of my knowledge and research, O'DAY never offered (officially at least?) the tall-mast with the K/CB. The Tall-rig only came with the Fin-keel, 4'6" draft and mast was 2' taller. We could check with Rudy at D&R to be sure. I do know that there WAS a "Tall-Rig" option for the K/CB O'DAY 23 in 1974, not sure about earlier years.

There is lot of info posted online and in books that mixes up details for many boats, creating versions (on paper) of boats that were never offered by manufacturers.

This a very good reason to wait until you can measure your current sail before ordering a new one.

And when you measure your sail check the sail slides. there's at least a dozen different ones and a lot of them won't fit the sail track

I went to boat today. the mast is laying horizontally and I couldn't get right up to it but I measured approx. 24 feet from the point I believe the boom sits to the top of the mast. The main thing confusing me is The Sail warehouse site did not list luff hardware as 1/2 inch slugs for the standard Oday 25 which Im pretty certain this is and it definitely looks like that's what it takes by looking at the groove in the mast and that is also what the previous owner told me
