Jammed Centreboard
The Pendant Goes over a pulley up inside the keel,it has either come off the pulley and jammed between the pulley and the inside of the keelbox,or it may have frayed,in both cases it will have to be looked at.My boat is smaller and the pulley is above the waterline.I remove the pulley cover when I am alone,to make sure it stays that way,if the pendant is off the pulley you are home free, have a sealant ready when replacing the cover.if the rope is frayed and has to be relaced,a replacement pendant would have to be attached to the old pendant without knots and pulled threw as the old rope is pulled through.you will have to go under the boat to replace the new rope.you can get help from a yard if needed.I tape the two ropes together end to end, then sew through the tape and rope to make sure it stays together, make sure that you tie a knot in the end of the new rope so that it does not pull all the way through
