Well, the PO/seller called and said his wife made him back out on the MOTOR portion of the secondary deal... He said, she said, that motor has to go on his 23'er, and he is not allowed to sell it, because he still owes her money for it. (apparently she lives in WI, he lives in FL, hrmmm...)

Oh well, now I am hunting for a longshaft motor.

On the bright side, she said I could have the cushions now, and mainsheet blocks with the sail deal... Oh, and he found the lower rudder pintle.


I presently have a 15hp 1990 2 stroke, but it is the normal 17" shaft length, so I am not sure it will work in lumpy conditions without cavatating.

A 15hp what??

Some motors have extension kits that are available or can be pieced together.

A short shaft ain't gonna cut it man, we have a long shaft and in short chop
its out of the water tooooo much. I'm trying to piece together the xtra-long shaft kit.

Sorry... Missing brand is Evinrude.

I see a guy on CL has a kit to make it a 25" for $250 a few towns over from me, but there are also a pile of 25" 9.9 motors listed around my area and price range too, so we'll see.

Funny thing happened today (Coincidental??) I was talking with my friend who owns a marina up here, telling him I bought a sailboat, and he said he had a 25" Honda 9.9 up in the shop from a repo'd sailboat (back storage fees)
I, of course told him, I already scored an engine, but that was before I knew my other motor deal had gone south.

So, now I need to call him back in the morning and get the details on this potential powerplant...
