I'm getting a new 150% genoa with a CDI furler soon. I had a 135% hank on before. I have safety net in my lifelines.

How to I determine the position of the genoa block with that new sail. I don't have a that block on a track.

Tx

Yves,
You're going to need tracks and cars that will accommodate that 150% Gennie at various stages of reefing. A rule of thumb is to draw an imaginary line from the clew to the center of the luff, and that will be the angle of the sheet. Of course that angle will change when you reef the Gennie so you're going to need to mount your tracks so that the sheet will be able to attain those angles. I would install the new CDI Roller Furler first, then open the Gennie up on a calm day and figure out what size track is needed and also the placement of the tracks on the combings. For more info on this, check out the book entitled "Sail Power" by Wallace Ross. It may be at your public library. You're going to love that CDI Roller Furler.

Tx Joe,

Have you ever seen installation of tracks and car with safety net in the lifeline? I have a hard time picturing it done.

I would rather just install another set of block for the 150% sail. The other block could be for a furled sail (90%-110%) if it is possible with a furler. Which would be what I was using before along with a reefed main. I don't plan to keep the current boat for more than 2 years. So spending the time and additional money is not in my current plan.

That sounds like a plan to me. Good luck!
