Oday 23 Harvey's Lake
Hi Folks!
I purchased an O'day 23 back on August 11th of 2013 that needs a lot of work. Here In Pa. its warming up and I have been working like crazy on her. I started a blog on blogspot and was wondering does anybody maintain a blog of their restoration on this website? I haven't posted too much on the other site and wondered If there is an area to create on here?
thanks
Jojo

Jojo, you can put up photo albums in your profile on this site. You could also put a link to your blog in your profile. There is also a pretty long thread that someone started of, I think, an O'day 27 where they replaced all the core and a complete interior rebuild. The problem with that is that as time passes and there are no new posts to the thread, the thread falls lower and is not visible in the posting list. So your blog is probably the best option.

Where will you be sailing her? Last year I worked like a fiend to get mine ready for the season. Put a lot of pressure on myself. This year, I'm feeling pressure a bit, but after the horrible winter and lame-o spring, I'm trying to relax and tell myself it'll get in the water when it gets in the water, even though I have a pretty big project to complete... Besides, last spring was pretty chilly and windy, almost too windy sometimes, so if I don't get to sailing until it warms up a bit more, that's no big loss...

Oday 23 Harvey's Lake
Good thing I asked. After reading I think I'll just start putting more work on my existing blog. I am going to try to put it in my signature. Thanks for the good input. Oh and one more thing ... my boat is beat! Just giving you a warning!!! Lol!

Oday 23 Harvey's Lake
Brian,
I am in Pennsylvania. I am 2 miles from Harvey's Lake in the northeast corner of the state. Not too good of a sailing lake but I am happy to have a lake near by. 9 miles of shoreline. My goal is to trailer this 23 to Near by lake Wallenpaupak and the finger lakes or Lake Erie for costal sailing. My brother is on the coast of NJ and would love to sail her on Barnaget bay? or the coast! Perhaps I sound like a newbie! I have to take it one step at a time and see how it goes. I really don't know what I'm in for.

Oday 23-1 Pop Top Poquoson
Another Restoration Project

Hi - I am following your blog and anticipate some new posts soon. I started to restore an old '70s O'Day 23 Pop Top and am also working on a blog that I will publish soon I hope. Last Fall I had the boat on blocks at the marina for a couple months and installed a new drop keel and completely redid the hull. Now I am having someone repair the fiberglass stern - possibly filling in the cutout for the motor that was rotten and adding a motor mount. I ordered a new roller furling jib and am redoing the rigging. After these are completed I should be able to sail while I continue to work on a myriad of other problems. It will be interesting to watch your progress as well.

It's a great boat to learn on; simple controls and rig, handles well, very forgiving and has a big boat feel. Your blog is great; I will follow it.
