ODay 222 Hatch Runners Replacement

I‘m replacing the hatch runners on my 1984 ODay 222. Looks like they’ve been replaced before but with cheaper wood that is now falling apart. The attachment hardware is rusted and falling apart too. No hardware coming through ceiling inside the cabin so I‘m not sure what I will find when I remove the runners. I‘m buying new teak runners. Can I just use marine epoxy to attach? No hardware? Jim

I've spilled small amounts of epoxy on gelcoat before and it comes off after 2-4 years. Of course, this was a dirty, unprepped surface.

My thoughts on an application such as yours is that the epoxy will only bond the surfaces, not the entire piece of wood and fiberglass.
