Hi Folks. New Oday owner of a '86 222. In need of a water tank since its not in the boat when I got it. It does have a fitting in the locker but no tank.
Should I replace with another OEM style tank or collapsable/flexible water tank? If so which kinds/models would you recommend?
Also how large was the OEM? How many Gallons?
The original tank was a 5 gallon tank, and I don't think that they're available anymore. You might get some info off Rudy Nickerson, D & R Marine about what is being used in place of it
http://www.drmarine.com/ Rudy sells O'Day parts and is very knowledgeable about these boats having worked at the O'Day factory in Fall River Ma., many years ago. Parts for the galley pump can be purchased at IMTRA in New Bedford Ma.
Someone else asked about this same water tank last year on this forum and I posted some pics of mine on it. You may be able to look back in the archives and find it. There's a lot of info on the manufacturer. My tank has a filler cover on one side of the top of the tank, and also a smaller threaded fitting on the other side for the galley pump hose, screw type connector. There is a long plastic tube with a round flange on one end which allows the galley pump to suck water from the bottom of the tank from the top of the tank. This hose is removable but is needed to make this work. A small cover is attached to the tank for use when pulling the tank out of the compartment for filling. I have pictures of this in the O'Day archives.
Maybe Ed. K. can find them for you and post them on this thread.
Ahoy there, Ed K. What say you?
