O'day 22 w/ O'day 20 mast...

I just figured out that my boat only has a 22’9” mast… It is a 1973 and I have a brand new sail for a much taller mast. It looks like I might have to get it cut now and I was curious if the boat would just be incredibly slow with such reduced sail… has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know where to find the 30’ mast? This is really a mess… I have never sailed the boat since I bought it in the fall but i would like to be able to use it to its potential...

that mast is not short

I've got a 1975 O'day 22 and my mast is around 23 ft long. I dropped the mast this past winter and it was just a bit longer than the boat. Maybe you can reef the sail down enough to get the boat out on the water? You'll be fine with that mast so don't worry. It will be cheaper to have the sail cut down than to buy a new mast.Happy sailing
