ODay 22 Mast Stand

Where can I find a Mast Stand for my Oday 22? I need to trailer the boat and want the mast held up off of the deck.ThanksJP

Mast Stand

I made mine from a 2 X 4 that sets in the recess where the drain is in front of the transom. Cut the length to support the mast so that it just clears the hatch. I ususally put something in the gap to pad the hatch. On the top end of the 2 X 4, screw or nail a 2 X 2 on each edge of the 2 X 4 so that it forms a fork for the mast to rest in. If you want to make it look nicer, use a jig saw to cut them in a curved shape as you desire. Once the mast is resting on your new stand, lash the mast to the rear cleats to keep it from moving sideways.

BOLT IT

the 2X4 cross brace is a common solution but the two pieces should be through bolted and not screwed or nailed.i also pad the hatch cover but i lash the botttom of the mast to the bow rail (to hold it up) so the mast will not bend over the winter.over the winter i add 2X4's that go all the way to the ground (so as to not put any addition weight on my mast, boat or trailer) when it snows.good luckbob
