I am purchasing a '76 O'Day 22 and would like to install lifelines that will run from the bow pulpit to the stern back rail. Any ideas where I would be able to purchase lines, stanchions and hardware?

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). My life line project is on hold for now (money) but I have an in query in at D&R Marine about stanchions for the Oday 22, I'll let you know what Rudy says when he gets back to me.

I've seen stanchions on eBay for about $50 a piece, normally the base is sold separately, depends on the stanchion I guess. Most marine retailers sell them but they are pricey, $75 to $90 a piece, add include a base at $40 x4 it adds up.

As an aside, do you plan on using bare or coated wire? I've heard coated wire is not a good idea due to moisture being trapped against the wire causing corrosion.

Not sure about the wire - but I'm leaning toward bare. I think it will look much nicer

Rudy at D&R got back to me he said:

"CALL ME REGARDING STANCHIONS--WE DO HAVE SOME CLOSEOUTS .
REGARDS RUDY 508-644-3001"

I don't know why he was yelling at me, but other here have said he prefers to talk on the phone then go back and forth with emails.

I found some at Garhauer that included the bases for a little over $50 a piece. Here's the link to their sight http://garhauermarine.com/ . The also sell stanchions and bases separatly for $30 each. They list a 24 1/2" stanchion, but you can order other lengths. I just sent them an email asking the cost of a 28 - 30" stanchion.

Garhauer can make up to a 30" long stanchion for $35 their bases are $30 so we're looking at $65 x 4 plus the line kit
