I am noticing when sailing under moderate winds some slippage of the cockpit sole on the plywood support that runs from to the hull. Is this support suppose to be attached to the bottom of the sole? Mine is screwed to the hull support but not to the bottom of the sole. Anyone replaced the old support and if so how did you reattach it?

Oday 222 Dighton, Ma.
Someone else has asked this question just recently. I can't speak to the O'Day 22 but my 1986 O'Day 222 has a similar set up where it is screwed to the inside cabin sole, and also the under side of the cockpit sole. It's nothing more than a 1X3" piece of Teak with a 4X4" piece of plywood screwed to the top of it. 2 wood screws go through this plywood and into the under side of the cockpit sole. The bottom of the strapping fits into a recessed area and is screwed into place. I think that it's more of a brace for the cockpit sole than anything else.

THX! I noticed last night that the top of the thwart had slipped forward so that tells me it moving, which a thwart should not. It should be a compression brace. I am going add some bracing to the sole and watch it from here. Ghol
