I just got an old Oday 20 it seams like it was leaking before somewhere but not as much as after i decided to clean bottom! the boat seemed pretty dry when i got on it that morning, but after my bottom clean up i got back in the boat and i saw like a inch to two of water. started pumping with my hand pump and took out like 30 gallong within few hours. i then took the boat to nearby shore the net day. it seemed that it wasn't that bad of a leak as the boat was seating in the water all night but i pumped about 10 gallons or so... well i discovered a thru whole of some sort on the port-side directly underneath next to keel! Does anyone know is it a drain or what is it and could i have knocked of a cap from it and now it is leaking?

I would guess this is for an old speed sensor or depth sounder transducer. You may want to remove the through hull and glass over it if you do not need it.

You say "port-side next to the keel", is it forward of the main bulkhead? Perhaps under the platform for the head? Is it about 2.5" in diameter? If so, it is probably the discharge thru-hull for the marine head installed by a previous owner prior to the ban on overboard discharge of untreated sewage. I'd remove the thru-hull and glass over the hole. If the hole is elsewhere, I'd vote for it being a long-ago depthsounder transducer thru-hull, and if you no longer have that Depthsounder.....remove the thru-hull and glass over the hole.

Thank you for the response gentlemen, the hole is more towards the back. It more like directly under the cockpit drain or in the area. Its size is like 1 1/4 and there is a tube shaft that turns... i thought it might be a drain for the cockpit, if not it would probably be best to pug it with some epoxy and a copper plug that could be removed in the future? I am not experienced with glass, but i did decide to paint the boat (one side is done) so i guess i'll wait if someone comes up with better idea of this matter. Thank you.

Guys a little update, it came out to be the cockpit drain! After i tested with water to my surprise the cockpit drains directly under water!
