I've GOT A LEAK! *** I need help identifying where the leak is coming from. *** Great boat, finished interior! The boat is on a trailer, and I think the leak is likely from the retractable keel fitting. I'm not sure where to begin, and I don't know if this is a common problem or not. Please HELP! Various people have told me to 1) donate the boat; 2) fill up the interior with a hose and try and see where the water comes out; 3)launch the boat and see if it leaks (we've already experienced that one). NONE of these options seem viable to me, esp. if all it needs is a little lock-tite, etc. Thank you in advance for your advice. -Mark

leak

I have a day sailer and my drain plug was leaking i put some silicone on it and screwed it back in. My center board was also leaking so I removed it and inspected the trunk which was fine. there was water coming out of the screw holes so I put plumbers putty on the screws and replaced them. Now my only leak into the bilge is from the old inspection ports in the deck but thats only rain water so I will replace them when i get a chance.

Mark, Check through the forum archives and you'll find a lot of info on leaks. In the mean time, check the lower gudgeon bolts inside the transom and the self bailing hose. Look for any water marks or rusty stains near that area. If you happen to find the leak, use a good Polysulfide boat caulking like 3-M Marine Adhesive Sealant Fast Cure 4000 UV. Joe
