Oday 19 Identifying Deck Mounts for Possible Stanchions.

Hi,
I've recently acquired an 1980 Oday 19. So far it's been a fun flexible boat to learn with. I often sail with my kids and I'd like to add a lifeline or netting around. On the boat I have these half circle deck mounts (picture provided) at ideally the right locations, but I cannot identify the manufacturer or style of what would fit into them. Is anyone familiar with this deck mount? is it for stanchions or something else?

The mounts you refer to are definitely not stanchion mounts, but most likely simply mounts from which to hand fenders. You can purchase stanchion mounts and stanchions for your O'Day 19, and purchase (or have fabricated) backing plates which you will need. Years ago, you could purchase both stanchions and mounts from, Rudy Nickerson at D & R Marine, Assonet, MA, and he may still be able to assist you in location same. Rudy was the parts manager for O'Day (Bangor Punta, later Lear Siegler) in Fall River prior to O'Day going out of business in the late-1980's.
