I just bought an old O'Day 15. I'm having a little trouble trying to figure out the main sheeting. The way it's setup is it has a metal bar running the width of the cockpit with line coming off both ends. There is some sort of a slider that runs on this bar to run both ends of the line through. Is this called a traveler?. From there I have no idea how to run the line. There are two blocks on the boom and a block on each side of the boat. In the center there is another block with a camcleat. If anyone has a picture, that would be great! Or if someone can help explain how to run the main sheeting. -Thanks Jason

Main Sheeting

Tie one end of the sheet to the end of the boom (bowline), run it to the block on the stbd side of the after cockpit, then to the block on the port side, then back up to the boom end, through the block there, through the block half wway down the boom, and then down to the camcleat, where you pull (trim) and loosen the sail. Also, go the the "daysailor" website for some photos and instructions. Have fun!

Re: Main Sheet

I think your explaining a different kind of traveler system. My traveler is located in the center of the cockpit with a metal bar running laterally. On this bar is a traveler 'car' for which line runs from the ends of the bar through the car and I think back to the sides to widge cleats. Then I have 2 blocks on the boom and one with a camcleat on the deck. Correct me if I'm wrong, someone told me that a second line goes from the car (tied) to one block on the boom, back down to a block in the cockpit, back up to the second block on the boom and back down to the cam cleat.
