Oday 15 Bristol
Hello,
Our family just adopted a O'Day 15. Needs a little work but should be sailing soon.
Are there any boats like this in R.I. Area ? I would like to look at one

Also any parts still kicking around for this daysailor ?

I'll echo the recommendation to call Rudy at D&R Marine! Better yet, visit him some Saturday morning, he is in Assonet, MA. next door to the Assonet Inn on Water St. Exit 9 off Rt 24 North.
It may be best to give him a call (508) 644-3001 to be sure he is open that Saturday, occasionally he is closed instead of being open Saturday morning for walk-in customers (new friends!).

In the meantime, is this the 1970's O'DAY 15 (1970-74) or the later version (1981-84)? The 12-digit Hull ID number on the transom will give the model year for boats built since 1972, but one way to tell the 2 boats apart (OK several ways!) Newer boat has a daggerboard, the older one a pivoting centerboard, newer boat has seats molded into the cockpit, older one you sit on deck with the cockpit being just a footwell, older boat was decked over for most of her length, newer boat has a narrow deck around the sides and a short forward deck.

The boat we have is a older one . Pivoting center board , sitting on deck. It is a faded yellow color. Any idea where I can get exact color gelcoat .
Older brass self baileys need attention, somehow water got in hull? . Pumped it out , I guess I'll keep an eye on it .
No visible cracks

Well, you could try Jamestown Marine (located in Bristol, RI last time I checked.. so local!) However, it might be worth bringing the boat along to match since the gelcoat will have faded quite a bit since new. They may sell a gelcoat patch kit that contains various tints to add to the included gel coat paste, mix until you get close match, then add the catalyst. Matching colors has never been my strong skill!

No, I have a Day Sailer II, those were pictures that I saved from someone's eBay listing for their O'DAY 15.

Question ?????

Thanks for pictures !
I notice in second picture there is a aluminum pipe/bar inside boat that goes side to side . My boat is missing it and I have 3 screw holes on each side.

Any idea what it is ?

Traveler bar

Well,
It looks like I'm missing the Traveler Bar.
I have three screw holes on hull but no bar!
Does anyone know the size/dimensions of bar and what type of attachment to hull?

You could probably get away without the traveler bar unless you are a competitive racer. Replace the block on hte aft end of the CB trunk with a double block or fiddle block with a becket on top simialr to the setup on the later model 15.

I've attached a sketch of a modified mainsheet to eliminate hte traveler, and a diagram of how the newer O'DAY 15 mainsheet was rigged (pic is actually a DS II, but setup was the same). The modified 15 mainsheet setup will have more power than hte setup on hte newer boats (4-1 instead of 3-1).
