On this date the men of the Andrea Gail perished when a series of storms converged to form A Perfect Storm. Let's hope history doesn't repeat. Be safe everyone.

We live about 1.5 mile east of Etobicoke Creek, scene of some of the fatalities when Hurricane Hazel hit Toronto in 1954. After that disaster, the floodplain areas were depopulated (most are parks now) to prevent a repeat.

Oak Island down here was wiped out during Hazel. Only five homes left on the entire island afterwards..
