We vacation on Ocracoke Island for 2-3 weeks at a time each year. I am looking for some information on sailing this area. I have sailed in the Pamlico sound from Ocracoke for the last 6 years but in a small (12 foot) daysailor with no motor. Now I have a C-22 and want to do some more exploring. I would like to know about things to see on the neighboring islands (portsmith etc.) and if anyone has gotten out into the Atlantic by Ocracoke inlet. I suspect that it might be difficult for a small boat with a 6hp outboard. (the inlets in the area are notoriously dangerious) By the way I have 12+ years of experience on boats 40+ feet but I am unsure of the capabilities of a swing keel small boat in this area.
