The wife and I just spent a couple days at Oceanside Harbor. The ramps are just right, low or high tide, and they all have finger docks. The guest slips run 90 cents per foot, so my Capri-18 was only $16.20! Plenty of restaurants available too.

Don, I live about 8 miles from O'Side Harbor. It's small but very nice. In addition to everything you mentioned, the beach is real nice, and they have a parking lot area for overnight RV camping, which is great too. RV's park side by side, but your right next to the water. Many people fish from shore right in back of their RV.

Here's a few pic's I had saved.

I occasionally get a guest slip, but I keep my boat on the hard at home. I think that was slip #1 right next to the Jolly Roger.

And another two places to consider if you make it up the coast is Dana Point and Newport Beach. Dana Point charges $1 per foot per night and has water and power included. And a mooring ball is only $5 a night in Newport Beach, regardless of the size of the boat. Best part, according to the O.C. sheriff that covers as Harbor Patrol in Newport Beach, they have never run out of moorings even on the busiest days of the year,

I think I would like to trailer my boat their some time and stay for a week, are there any hotels close buy ? .....Wife will not camp or sleep on the boat !

Are there enough things to do there for a week ? .......The wife will get tired of sailing every day , have to keep the crew happy !

Perhaps we could all meet for a sail if I can convince the wife to take our vacation there next summer.

Sounds really nice and the pictures are inspiring.........

Oceanside is like any small town. The harbor has three large resturants; Jolly Roger, Joe's Crab Shack, Monterey Bay Canners. Plus there is a shopping area (small) at the south end of the harbor.

Hotels are available but the better ones are in Carlsbad, south of Oceanside.

Shopping at Carlsbad Mall, Outlet stores off of Palomar Airport Road, major restaurants in San Marcos.

So I would say yes, there is enough for you to do in the Tri City area of Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Vista.

Thanks Brian,

Sounds pretty nice.

We are looking for some place to go this summer ( may be July) and of course, I want to sail but I know she wont go for a week of sailing without some other source of activity .....shopping, laying on the beach, shopping, laying on the beach ect !:bang:

There Are Lots Of Nice Condos For Rent Very Near The Harbor And On The Beach. Last Summer A Week In The Condo Was Less Expensive Than A Hotel. Ocean Side Is A Neat Place!

Jim,

I have a friend who sails on Roosevelt lake, he has a small Hunter 170.

I didnt think there would be sailors in Arizona but I learned that lake Pleasant has a very large sailing club.

Arizona Has Lots Of Sailors

Glen,
This Is A Little Off Topic, But It Is So Hot Here In The Summer We Really Appreciate Playing On The Water. It Is Rumored That Az Has The Most Boats Per Capita. Roosevelt Is The Largest Lake In The State And We Have A Year Round Sailing Season. The Tucson Sailing Club And The Az Yacht Club Also Spend Quite A Bit Of Time Sailing Off Calif And The Sea Of Cortez. We Are About 7hrs Driving Time From Either.

We've rented a condo in North Side Villlage, the first condo's south of Oceanside Harbor and love it! Runs $1100 to $2400 for the week depending on size of unit and time of year. Plenty for the family to enjoy. I plan on trailering Grand Finale over this summer and renting a slip in the harbor for the week.
