Hi All, During the pre-purchase survey, the surveyor noticed that the keel bolts were badly corroded, and the earth strap linking the forward keel bolt to the port chainplate was broken. He said it was going to be an expensive and difficult exercise to replace the keelbolts, as the heads of the bolts were so corroded they might snap when being undone. Also a socket would not fit on some of the heads due to the corrosion. Has anyone had experience with this, particularly in Australia? I was wondering in particular about how to get the rusty bolts out, and if the earth strap was missing, could the cast iron keel be severley corroded too. Any advice appreciated, Nic Hoskin
