Oceanis 37 companion way top step removal?

Does anyone know how to remove the top step on the companion way on an Oceanis 37/Beneteau 37 please?

The wood (circled) between the bulkhead and the white step is loose and creaks every time you use the step. However when you open the step to look at the inside there is a piece of wood/sound insulation above the engine that covers the bit I need access to.

Hopefully, you can remove the piece of wood/sound insulation above the engine that covers the bit you need access. Please let us know how it turned out.

Where you able to resolve this problem? I've the same issue on my boot (Oceanis 37 from 2009). Each time somebody goes in or out it makes a lot of noice especially irritating when there is somebody sleeping.
