The usual location, and the one offered in other O'day manuals, is in the area of the bulkheads. Generally, this would be in line transversely with the mast and immediately aft of the coach house. Additional support centered at the bow and port and starboard near the transom

The O'Day 272 manual indicates the forward bunks are to be placed barely aft of the mast at the location of the awthartship stringer, i.e. side to side stringer. The stern bunk should be placed 11 ft to the aft of the front bunk (behind the coach roof).these are the areas identified for the crane straps or sling used to raise the boat from the water and so it appears these are the beefiest points for bunks... my intepretation of the illustration in the manual....Pat

Here is a pic of someone's 272 on stands, not "perfectly" located, but close. I aquired a 272 manual in PDF format from someone (online, but can't remember where it was posted.)
The locations for lifting slings as mentioned in a posting above would be 7'5" forward of transom, and 9'3" aft of bow. The slings should be 10'3" apart. O'DAY recomended that stands be located about at these points, with blocking under keel. I also attached that 272 Manual in 2 parts.
