We have a 1984 MacGregor 25 (currently with no motor) and after reading some other posts, are pretty sure what we want as far as horse power. But we haven't discussing shaft lengths on the motors. Assuming our motor bracket is mounted similar to other 25's, we'd appreciate hearing what shaft lengths are working for others. On our local lake, when the ski boats have worked up a pretty good chop, the trolling motor we occasionally use will try coming out of the water with the waves. This trolling motor measures 24 inches from the center of the prop to the top of what would be a motor bracket or transom (by the way, is that the correct way to measure shaft length?).Our concern in choosing a motor is that future trips to larger lakes or maybe the San Francisco Bay would yield even more problems with the prop coming out of the water. Thanks in advance for any input. You all have been great with the other questions we've had so far!
