vang you veddy much!

Steve, on the bottom of my boom is a very low profile keyhole bracket, maybe three feet or so from the mast. My vang consists of two fiddle blocks; one, the mast end, having a regular snap to attatch to the mast fixture, and the boom end has about 16 inches of cable with a ball on the end to fit into the keyhole bracket on the boom. Wow, i'm out of breath after that sentence! when the vang is attatched and in use, and I wish to reef the sail, I ease the tension on the vang line and let the cable roll up with the sail. If the boom end of the vang had a length of webbing between the block and the boom it would probably work ok too; picture a ratchet strap for a vang, and how it would roll with the sail.I guess a picture would paint a thousand words, but i'm too busy sailing to learn how to do that stuff on the computer! I hope I was some help! John
