For 5 years now, I've gone on a November Cruise and I'm planning the next one for November 9-12 in Charlotte Harbor. Eleven boats have already let me know they are coming, but its open to anyone who decides to show up. The Plan: Launch from Punta Gorda downtown ramps sometime on friday the 9th of November. Sail around, maybe some informal racing, and then either tie up at the ramps, moor out, or get a slip for the night. Dinner will be in town, most likely at fishermans village. After breakfast on Saturday, we will sail the 24 miles to Pelican Bay where we will set up a beach BBQ, then anchor out for the night. Sunday will see a sail out and around cabbage key, or a stint into the gulf, followed by a crossing of the bay to Burnt Store. Secure slips for the night, then dinner at Burnt store. Will do a Poker Run, drawing cards along the cruise to win a slip at Burnt store, paid by the losers. Monday will see a sprint back up charlotte harbor to Punta Gorda. This is a non-sponsored event, in which each skipper is solely responsible for their own vessel and crew. Feel free to join all or parts of this cruise and to extend on either end if you wish. I would love to get a few more Hunters to join in this cruise.. Don't forget to mark your calendar. I monitor this site, as well as the TSBB precision forum. If you need to contact me.. Jaccaro@cfl.rr.com See you there.

I love Charlotte Harbor.

Sounds fun. IMO Charlotte Harbor is one of the best sailing destinations I have ever had the pleasure to sail. Virtually consistent depth across the whole harbor, great wild life. A great time. Hope you have fun.

A long way from VT!

We stayed with a long time family friend there a few Thanksgivings ago (the fall before the hurricane hit). My Uncle, who owns a beautiful Whitby 42, lives there too, as well as many retirees from my hometown (Fairfield, CT). We really enjoyed ourselves. What a great idea. It would be hard for us to make this from VT with kids still in school, but we'd love to do this in the future, say, 10 years from now! I'm inferring this is not just a Hunter event? I've wondered if anyone ever organizes a Hunter 23.5 rendezvous or wider-targeted Hunter event. Owners of our prior model boat, the Sandpiper 565, recently started doing so. They are wonderful events for sharing knowledge, camaraderie, good food/drink, & tall stories -- not necessarily in that order!

Sailing Club's

Sounds like fun,do you get many bigger boats join you or is it mostly trailer sailors,I 'll be going to Port Charlotte as soon as my NY house sells. Looking for any other sailing events or clubs that do more cruising trips in the Charlotte Harbor area. I saw Punta Gorda has sailing clubs but must live in Punta Gorda to be member, any one know any other sailing clubs in Charlotte Harbor. I'll be moving down soon and looking for as much info as possible sailing organizations in Charlotte Harbor area. Nick Nick

The event has evolved..

It started as the November Precision Cruise, a get together of Precision sailboat owners. Then three of the founding members, me included upsized our boats. We still participate and invite all boats to enjoy the sailing and venue. Most of the boats are 18 to 25 foot trailerables, but we have a 30 ft morgan that joins us as well.
