I found this on the web
I see I have a lot of views and no posts in response to my querry so far, here is something I found myself on a site dedicated to windvanes ,,,, Re NORVANEDate: Sunday, 14 May 2006, at 8:25 a.m. In Response To: Norvane? (Jeff Serrie) I have a Norvane, and am very happy with it. I've had it 2 years, done about 1200 nm. The strength of solid stainless steel impressed me, as well as generally excellent engineering. I notice wind-shifts more now, as it affects direction on a small lake. Slewing in the troughs of 3 metre waves (out at sea) with a following wind is one issue, but it might be better to bear off or scandalise the mainsail completely. The adjustable counterweight is good, though not adjusted much in practice - I usually keep it in the middle. I had a dinghy bump against the paddle one night and it jumped the teeth of the paddle vis-a-vis the aerofoil. It was possible to push the paddle's gear teeth while re-aligning the aerofoil's teeth - hard to push with the fingers, but possible. All in all, it's strong (i.e. reliable), you could repair any of its parts, and it's well made. If I have weather-helm I ease the main a little, and it helps keep the boat on track.
