Hi
I am planning to install a Norcold SCQT-4407 unit on my H31 84-87. We are in Lake Michigan does anyone have have any tips or advice?

Spend the money on something that will last a little longer than the Norcold. I had a Norcold that died in about 2 years. I bought an Adler Barbour and love it. I spent a little extra and got a cold plate so I could turn the refrigeration off when we left the dock and everything stayed cold for about 8-10 hours.

I have that unit in my H-30 . The install is abt 3 yrs now with no trouble.
You will be alot better off if you add more insulation around the box. I used the spray foam insulation that expands as it comes in contact ith air. ! can of it was enough to incapsolate my ice box with insulation.

How are you going to replace the battery drain on this?
If you run this on DC for over 10 hrs , your house bank is gettiing low.

Battery Drain

Well unfortunately we do not have the luxury of anchoring anywhere in our part of Lake Michigan. So we only sail up to 6 hours. I thought if we go further we can do what we have done for years and use a bag of ice to tide us over. Most days we are only out for 3-8 hours then back to the dock and shore power.
