I'm buying a nonsuch 30 to go and sail the Fl Keys and beyond but I have no experience in sailing, have some with a trawler I used to own, I hope to gain experience in a week or so...... I'm apprehensive but secure in my decision, do you think is, crazy or possible. alberto

Rigged far forward on this kind of 'catboat'. You had better learn to reef, go out with the DEEP reef in first, easliy shaken out. A Nonsuch is a great boat, fast, and easily sailed. You didn't say the year, a wishbone rig, with an aluminum spar? I'm guessing? Roomy cabin, fast and a stable yacht too. Expensive, but worth every penny. I have a 'Freedom' catboat with a carbon-fiber mast. I owned a ten-tonner schooner with wish-bones and alumimum spars similiar to the Nonesuch. Go out on a calm day with little wind, learn to reef quickly, practice a hundred times at the dock...then go on out and make your own mistakes, they ARE a forgiving boat. Good luck!
