I have searched the archive with little luck. My nonskid works just fine. It is moded into the deck and then painted. My problem is that it is very chalky and it absorbs water and stains easily. Should I repaint it? Should I treat it with a product like Island Girl? All of the paints I have found have some type of agregate in them. Because my gelcoat is already textured, can I repaint and keep the effectiveness of the nonskid without adding sand or rubber? Thanks Tim R.

Do you know that it is painted?

Tim: You do not want to use the IG products if you have a painted decks. How do you know if it is painted or not? If it is painted, then just paint it again. It your boat is a Hunter, then most of these boats have gelcoat non-skid (not paint). This product can be cleaned with the IG system. Then you can use their non-skid sealant.

Not sure

It is a different color from the surrounding deck. How can I tell if it is gelcoat or paint? It is a 1985 Ericson 35-III. Tim R.
