Other than using a power washer, what is the most effective way to clean the non-skid? I have used simple green, starbrite etc. Is their a product out there to protect the deck so that it would just require hosing down rather then a major scrubbing? Thanks Lee

good question

Last year I used a soap/very diluted bleach solution which worked well to brighten the deck. In effect this worked great but I was concerned that any residual bleach might lead to sun damage. For peace of mind I rewashed the deck afterwards just to be safe. I will probably try this method again unless someone on this forum throws up a red flag and justifies reasons why this in fact is not a safe method to a bright deck. What do we think? comments please... Brian h23 kickin back

I Have The Same Question

I noticed on the smooth fiberglass deck, that first coat of wax works great at keeping the deck "easy to clean" for the season. Unfortunately, we are not suppose to wax the "non-skid" surface so, because it has not been "sealed" it almost acts like a dirt magnet. I am hoping there is a product available that can be put on the "non skid" surface. If not, I will try waxing a small section of "non-skid" surface with a brush and then brushing off the wax and see if this make a difference. Wish me luck and if anyone knows of a product, please let me know. Thanks, Bob

Non Skid polish

I have found some stuff made by Aurora Marine Products out of Canada. It has a creamy texture and is not cheap. You need to use their cleaner to prepare the surface. But so far my non-skid portion of my deck looks better then it has in a long time. When wet it doesn't get slippery. Kind of reminds me of that sex wax they sell for doing surfboards. Starbrite

Starbrite has a product that's called something like "non-skid deck cleaner WITH TEFLON". I think it does a great job of cleaning & brightening the deck, and protects it with a coating (of teflon & wax, I guess) that does not make the deck any more slippery. Give it a try! -Rob

Use Island Girl on Non skid

Island girl makes a two part system (cleaner and sealer) for the non skid. I just used it on my deck and it works great. Prior to using IG I had to scrub my nonskid with a brush on my hands and knees. Took several hours to get it clean/white again. Now with IG sealer I washed my boat down in 45 minutes with soaping water and a light once over with a mop. The sealer returned the natural luster of the gel coat to my old chalky deck.
