I am in the final stages of buying a catalina 30 1990. It has a red color scape. I do not want a red highlighted boat. There are many work arounds, but as I have been drawn out of town as I make my last offer. I need to ask if someone knows if the nonskid on the 1990 boats wrte tinted and was red one of the colors. I would apprecigate any expidiated help. Thanks

Not sure what you mean by red highlighted but on my 1979 there were areas of the nonskid that started to bleed red where there was 30 years of wear. I believe that whatever was used underneath (a primer maybe) was red.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
My 1990 has red stripes that are now kind of purple because of oxidation. Not a really big deal but someday I will pay someone to bring them back out.

My non skid is pink....or rose I guess. I don't like it. Oh well, the boat sails well and if I really get a wild hair I will paint them another color. As for now, I just deal with my "Bermuda" colored decks. LOL

Paint nonskid?

I didnt know that the nonskid could be paint. This could solve several problems. I would love to hear more.

K,

I painted the nonskid areas of my deck on my '85 C30 a few years back and if I had known then what I know now I would have bought a newer boat!

It turned out great and has held up like new but it was super labor intensive. Two coats of primer and three coats of Interlux Perfection with the nonskid additive on the last two coats. Probably 120 hours of labor and the paint is rediculously expensive. I'd never really worked with two part epoxy before though so I'm sure an expert would probably be much quicker.

Paint is definately an option, just not the easiest option!

Good luck with your hunt!

DanM.
