Having trouble setting up NOMAD AIS to work. RayMarine chart plotter is not showing the unit. So I do not know what I need to get it working. I have plugged it into my laptop, WiFi is working, Data is flashing yellow. Power is on with green light. Now what do I do?

Welcome to SBO.

How is the NOMAD connected to the SeaTalk network?
It is only connected to my laptop with a USB cable and portable antenna. It shows AIS on my chart plotter (Ray Marine E80) with a red X across it. I don't see anywhere else to plug in the USB for power or another outside antenna.

From the Manual:

NOMAD is designed to be used with compatible navigation software running on a Laptop (PC, MAC or LINUX) connected via its USB cable or Wi-Fi interface. There are also many Apple iOS and Android apps to allow mobile phones and tablets to wirelessly receive and display the AIS data from NOMAD.
It may not be possible for your CP to read the data. Contacting Digital Yacht may be your best best.

Welcome Wicked…
If you are game I would be pleased to share some support, beyond suggesting you read the manual or call support.

Having looked at the manual, I am not sure you will be able to see AIS on the RayMarine CP directly. There does not appear to be a direct connection protocol for the two units.

The Nomad unit is designed to work with a laptop/pc computer. In order to set the unit up you will need the software that DigitalYacht provides.

From the Manual: Before you start
You will need the following items and tools to complete the installation:
• NOMAD Class B AIS Transponder.
• VHF/AIS antenna and cable – supplied
• A USB power source i.e 12v to USB power adaptor, USB power pack, etc.
• 2x Velcro Strips (supplied) or 4x M4 screws (not supplied) or other fixings appropriate to the mounting location.
To configure the unit you will need:
• An MMSI number for your vessel
• A PC running Microsoft Windows XP®/Vista® /7/8/10 or Mac OSX with a free USB port.
• proAIS2 Class B+ AIS Transponder configuration software – Windows and Mac versions of the software are
available for download from our “Online CD” at Digital Yacht Software+Drivers CD
OR
• An Android Phone/Tablet and a copy of our free AISConfig App which is available from the Google Play Store...
