I finally have somthing to add after lurking here for a year and taking advantage of all this collective knowledge. The rudder on my 272LE was noisey, the pins in the steering linkage were worn and the rudder would bang and make noise from passing waves when in the slip or at anchor. I removed the 2 pins, pressed 2, 1 1/4" long, 3/8 id, 1/2 od shouldered brass bushings into the holes for the pins and installed 2, 1 3/4" X 3/8 stainless steel bolts with nylon locking nuts and 3/8" SS washer on the top and bottom to hold them in place. I picked up the bushings bolts and washers at Do-It Best Hardware for less than $10. I pressed them in with a small C-clamp (no drilling or machineing), and it took all the slop out of the steering linkage.Isn't spring commisioning great? TedS
